South America Trip 1 - 2008/9

We had a wonderful 4 month trip to South America back in 2008/9 during a sabbatical year off work! We started in Salvador in the exotic Brazilian state of Bahia, headed north up the coast to the mouth of the Amazon at Belem, right up the Amazon to Iquitos in Peru, down through Peru and Bolivia to the north of Chile, then all the way down the west coast to Patagonia and finally Ushuaia right at the bottom, then back up to Buenos Aires, a detour to Uruguay before heading up to the Iguazu falls and then back into southern Brazil, finishing off in Rio. Fabulous scenery, sights, experiences... Click on the top left of the map below to see the list of places we stayed. The blog entries for the trip are in the Table of contents - from 23 September 2008 to 18 January 2009.

TRAVELS IN SOUTH AMERICA 2008/9

Since ,.. we have retired and have planned a two and a half month trip to Brazil, Argentina and Chile - from mid September 2018 - visiting new places together with a few old favourites.

(We used "Travelpod" for our previous travels but they closed down last year and we have imported the blogs of the four trips (between 2008 to 2017) to Travellerspoint. Some of the symbols get imported curiously(!) eg the "–" used in Travelpod gets imported into Travellerspoint as "–"!!! and the photos dont always seem to be in the same order, but otherwise its pretty good.
